  • Take on a high-impact role with scope to shape the finance function.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join Horticulture New Zealand in a newly created Finance Manager role that has been designed to strengthen strategic financial capability across the organisation. Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Services, you'll become their trusted second-in-command, providing commercial insight, financial leadership and support to key business leaders.

Far more than a traditional finance role, you'll be the key finance business partner across the organisation, helping leaders make informed decisions through forecasting, budgeting, financial modelling and commercial analysis. You'll also have the opportunity to lead initiatives, improve systems and processes, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the finance function. With genuine scope to make the role your own, this is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to take the next step towards a broader leadership career.

Our vision is to create an enduring environment where growers thrive, delivering healthy food for all, forever.

HortNZ is shaping a positive future for New Zealand horticulture through leadership, advocacy, and influence for grower success. Our values – Courageous by nature, Collaborative for impact, Credible through action – guide everything we do.

About the role

Working closely with the General Manager Corporate Services, you'll provide strategic financial support across the organisation while leading budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and financial reporting. You'll partner with leaders to provide commercial insight, challenge thinking and help drive better business outcomes.

You'll manage the Finance Systems and Reporting Analyst role, supporting development while ensuring the finance function continues to evolve through improved reporting, systems and financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and Analysis: Lead budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and financial modelling to support organisational performance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive enhancements across finance systems, reporting and processes while developing capability within the finance team.

About You

You're a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with people just as much as working with numbers. You're naturally curious, enjoy finding better ways of doing things and can confidently translate financial information into meaningful business insights.

You’ll be CA qualified with at least five years' experience and have developed strong technical accounting skills alongside the ability to influence stakeholders across an organisation. While leadership experience is welcomed, your ability to build trusted relationships and provide sound commercial advice is what will set you apart.

  • Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, cashflow management and management accounting.
  • Excellent business partnering skills with the ability to influence, challenge and support operational leaders.
  • CA qualified with strong technical accounting knowledge, including tax, partnerships and statutory reporting, along with advanced Excel capability.

If you're looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely influence business decisions, help shape the future of a growing finance function and build towards broader leadership responsibilities, we'd love to hear from you.
