Where finance meets purpose — and your ideas can make a real difference.

  • Be a key part of a small, close-knit finance team doing work that matters
  • Build broad accounting experience across AP/AR, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Grow your career in a relaxed, supportive, and purpose-driven environment

The Opportunity

This is your chance to join a respected, purpose-led organisation where finance truly fuels impact. As the Finance Officer, you'll play a key support role in the finance function — processing accounts payable and receivable, completing bank and account reconciliations, assisting with journals, and helping maintain the general ledger.

This isn't just data entry — you'll gain broad, hands-on exposure across the finance function, working in a small team of three alongside the Finance & Systems Accountant and the CFO. You'll also get exposure to our core systems, including Business Central with plenty of support to build your skills and confidence along the way.

Why you'll love it:

  • Broad, hands-on finance experience across AP/AR, reconciliations, and reporting
  • A supportive and relaxed environment where teamwork and accuracy matter
  • Genuine opportunity to progress, upskill, and grow your accounting career

The Company

A leading name in the not-for-profit gaming sector, New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) plays a crucial role in strengthening communities across Aotearoa. Using the proceeds of charitable gaming revenue, NZCT funds a wide range of community organisations that are focused on making communities happier, healthier and more connected.

What makes NZCT stand out:

  • A team of around 29 passionate professionals united by a shared sense of purpose
  • A well-respected and trusted organisation with strong governance and integrity
  • A genuine focus on people — valuing wellbeing, flexibility, and community impact

The Role

You'll be tasked with keeping the day-to-day operations of the Finance team running smoothly, maintaining accuracy in the numbers, and pitching in wherever the team needs a hand. This is a great opportunity to build a solid accounting foundation in a varied, hands-on role.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Processing accounts payable and receivable, and daily banking and reconciliations
  • Supporting journal entries, month-end processes, and reporting
  • Ensuring the timely payment of supplier invoices and staff expense claims
  • Providing administrative and systems support across Business Central

You

You're organised, detail-oriented, and keen to build your career in accounting. You take pride in getting the numbers right, enjoy contributing to a small, friendly team, and like knowing your work makes a genuine difference.

You'll bring:

  • Some accounting or finance experience, or a relevant qualification — a background in an accounts role is an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
  • A collaborative, down-to-earth attitude and enjoy being part of a small team
